A song for Japan
Beautiful Yoko Kanno's song for the victims of the tragedy in Japan. Stay strong Japan!
Song:
きみでいて ぶじでいて
Kimi de ite, Buji de ite
Be you, Be safe
【Translation】
きみでいて ぶじでいて
Be you, Be safe
心配してる 世界が君を心配してる
(shinpai shiteru sekai ga kimi wo shinpai shiteru)
Worried, the world is worried about you
君の名前を探してる
(kimi no namae wo sagashiteru)
Searching for your name
一緒にいるよ、世界が君と一緒にいるよ
(issho ni iru yo, sekai ga kimi to issho ni iru yo)
With you, the whole world is with you
君の命に会いに行く
(kimi no inochi ni ai ni yuku)
Going to meet your life
心と体壊さず君を
(kokoro to karada kowasazu kimi wo)
Your heart and your body unbroken
抱きしめて会いに行くまで
(dakishimete ai ni yuku made)
Until we hold you and see you
きみでいて ぶじでいて
(kimi de ite, buji de ite)
Be you, be safe
Also the four lead actresses of the Tantei Opera Milky Holmes anime — Izumi Kitta, Mikoi Sasaki, Sora Tokui, and Suzuko Mimori — posted a song of support ("Itsudatte Supporter!") on the Lantis label's YouTube channel on Sunday.

A Washing Machine for Dogs and Cats
Don't like the smell of your dog but can't face being scratched as you wrestle to wash your beloved pooch? Well, a company in Japan has the answer: a dog washing machine! Although the dogie doesn't look that happy in the beginning xD And dunno if a cat would be amused either with a bath like that ahah

Cosplay - Jordan O'Leary is Breaking Down
Found this sort of documentary/show a phew days ago that features an outsider from the cosplay culture who got curious about this activity and the reason why people do it and put so many effort on the outfits, so decides to dive directly into the cosplay world and starts discovering what it is all about. I find it quite interesting and funny, how he reacts to all the new adventures ahead of him ^^
You know that you've thought about doing it. Dressing up and acting as your favorite bad ass, your most admired musical performer or villain from a film. The mystery and wonderment that is cosplay has plagued Jordan for years but he's finally doing something about it! To get to the core of the motivation behind these fantasy seekers Jordan will have to immerse himself into the community and find out for himself if it's all the rage or just glorified Halloween.

Currently there's only two episodes available but 4 more will be coming soon. You can watch them bellow ^^

Tokyo Fire Department New Year's Debut
Tokyo Fire Department held the annual New Year's debut ceremony. Had written something about this before on the Fire Brigade Unusual Ceremony post, but didn't knew it was a New Year's debut ceremony ^^' By the way, is it me or fireman's in Japan like to show of a bit? xD But it actually looks pretty cool! I guess they do it to attract more persons into becoming a fireman. A future fireman at 00:29 <3
By any chance did this made you recall Chinka?

2011 The Year Of The Rabbit
The 55th ceremony of the zodiac sign replacement took place last Monday at the Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka as usual. A tiger cub and two bunnies participated at this ceremony, representing the Chinese zodiac signs of the current year ( Year of the Metal Tiger ) and the year to come ( Year of the Metal Rabbit ), symbolizing the passing of responsibility from the tiger to the rabbit. While most of Asia remains faithful to the Chinese lunar calendar for the Lunar New Year, Japan uses the Western style calendar for both. It makes New Year's Day the start of 2011 and the Year of the Rabbit.
Traditional Rabbit attributes and associations:
Zodiac Location: 4th
Ruling hours: 5am-7am
Direction: East
Motto: “Let there be peace, and let it begin with me”
Season and month: Spring, March
Fixed element: Wood
Stem: Negative
Gemstone: Aquamarine
Color: Green, Aqua
Roughly equivalent western sign: Pisces
Polarity: Yin
Ruling Countries: Oman Oman, Iraq Iraq, Malaysia Malaysia, Croatia Croatia, Chile Chile, Syria Syria
The tradition says that the Year of the Rabbit will probably be gracious, good friend, kind, sensitive, soft-spoken, amiable, elegant, reserved, cautious, artistic, thorough, tender, self-assured, shy, astute, compassionate, lucky and flexible. But can be moody, detached, superficial, self-indulgent, opportunistic and stubborn.
Tiger-chan is so cute! <3
But bunnies are even more adorable >w<
Manny return to their hometowns to celebrate the new year with family.
Saitama Children Zoo tempting you and your kids to go and play with their bunnies.
Some rabbit owners dress them up and have a *hopping* good time. At "Bunny Family" just south of Tokyo, on Tuesday, bunny owners primp their pets for the New Year. They're hoping to immortalize their furry bundle in a photo session.
During this period of the year, bunnie figurines are manufactured in many places in Japan. Some bunnie crafts bellow ^^
Head shaking bunnie:
Origami bunnie:
FujiFilm's New Year photo greeting cards CM starring Kiki Kirin (lady wearing the kimono), Horikita Maki (girl with the gray jacket), Nakajima Miyuki (bunnie on the left) and Sasaki Nozomi (bunnie on the right). Making of the CM here.
And finally some 2010 photo news.
Oh! And couldn't resist showing you this, although it's been almost a week since Christmas ^^' They are so cute! *-*
And well i guess that's it, happy new year minna-san! And may the bunnies be with you in 2011~ ^^

Culture:Japan
Culture:Japan is a TV show directed and presented by Danny Choo which brings Japanese Pop Culture to the world and features contents that folks in and outside of Japan would enjoy. Currently broadcasts on Tokyo MX TV in Japan and across Asia on the Animax Network, but hopefully it'll be available worldwide soon ^^ Can't wait for it, as i really love what i have seen of the show till now, and of course whatever comes from Danny Choo must be good! :P
And since we are talking about Mr. Danny, let me also say a few things about this. It's been quite a while since i discovered hes website, and i must say that it has been a positive influence in my life. I used to be in what he calls 'the comfort zone', wanted to do things but ended up never starting them and making excuses and thinking 'i will do it tomorrow', i knew what was happening but didn't have the will to change it, this among other things like not having clear objectives in life, not knowing what to do in the future, everything seemed so blurry and confusing. One day i came across his website and immediately got addicted to it, but only a bit later i found his motivational articles, that was when my life changed for good! All hes good advices and its own example of success showing that anyone can materialize their dreams if they fight for them and never quit, it all encouraged me to become more determined and focused on the things i want to achieve in life, i'm really thankful to Danny, he's become sort of an hero and idol to me <3 It's also thanks to him that i decided to create this blog, so that i was able to share my passions with others and with you that are on the other side of the screen, and that is something that truly makes me happy ^^
Give it a try in case you are experiencing the same things i did, it might help you. But anyway i have written to much, enough of talky talk xD Bellow the official page, trailer and Culture:Japan Episode 0. Enjoy minna-san~ :h
